Abhinav Bindra Became 1st Person to Win Three Gold Medals in Tri-Series Shooting

  1. Bangladesh’s Kamar Ahmad Simon’s documentary Are You Listening won the Golden Conch Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films (MIFF).
  2. The Union government gave its in-principle approval for setting up of the first ESDM (electronic system design and manufacturing) in electronic city, Bangalore. The report further said that the richest young women in India have already achieved universal literacy but the poorest are projected to only do so around 2080.

  6. Micromax, announced that it was launching operation in Russia, it’s first market in Europe. Micromax, is partnering with VVP Group in Russia for distribution and the Canvas and Bolt smartphone will be launched in the country.
  7. Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Department of Disability Affairs to incorporate amendments in the proposed Rights of the Persons with Disabilities Bill 2014.
  8. An MoU was signed between the Bombay Natural History Society and BirdLife international and mining company Rio Tinto to create a Vulture Safe Zone in Madhya Pradesh’s Bundelkhand.
  9. Yulia Lipnitskaya became the youngest Russian athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. Yulia, 15-years-old won this medal in Winter Olympics 2014 at Sochi, Russia in free skating in the team figure skating competition.
  10. Abhinav Bindra, the Indian shooter won his third gold-medal in the Inter-Shoot Tri-series Shooting in the Air Pistol event. With this, he became the first person to win three gold medals in the event that is being held at the Hague, Netherlands.
